I was wondering if anybody knows the maximum that you can overclock an AMD K6-III 400 Mhz? I already know that it is 2.2v core, and I have an FIC motherboard with a bus speed of up to 124Mhz, also the mb does voltage increments of .1. Thank you for your info.

most AMD K6-2 chips are good for 75mhz over stock a few make it to 100mhz over.
At this time not enough people have over clocked the K6-3 to realy know how high they can go but they should be about the same.
one thing I have noticed though is that they do not handle the higher v-core settings like the K6-2 do probable becouse of the on die L2 cache
Another thing is when you bought yours
if it's a new one it might go higher easy. The first one's off the line did not overclock worth **** http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
try taking it to 450 with out jumping the v-core if it does that move you should see 500mhz with it, if you have to up the v-core then it will probable only see 475 max.
I would not go over 2.6 volts with that chip
max 2.7
Anyway keep it cool and it will stay happy http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
hope I helped answer your questions http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
