Word 97 problem...

I have a user who has a document (very long - 200+ pages) that is acting weird. On some of the pages it prints the word "as" as a wing ding (or something that looks like a wing ding). It happens inconsistently throughout the document and only in this document. Looking in Print Preview shows that it appears fine. Any ideas what may be causing this?

It could possably be a Micro-virus http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif I would suggest running a virus scan on the system with an up-todate scanner. You could also double check to make sure your drivers for the printer are up-todate aslso.

Also check Tools->Autocorrect and scroll down the word-list till you get to "as". Could be someone has goofed around with it...
Not showing up in print preview is weird though...

Have you tried taking a "problem" page from this doc. and copying and pasting into a new doc? Most of the settings for Word are document specific. When the problem doc. is open, check the settings for insert/symbol/auto correct. Look under the settings there and under the "exceptions" button, you may want to remove the check under "automatically use suggestions...."
