I have just purchased an Epox MVP3G2 motherboard and plan on getting a K63/400 to use with it. Since I have never overclocked before what would probably be the max that I could get out of this combination?
If I set it at the correct speed does that mean that I would set the jumpers at the JP3 location at 4X and 100 Hz, and the SW1 location would be set at the CPU core voltage? And if I wanted 450 then JP3 would be set at 4.5X and 100Hz and waht voltage?
Like I said I am new at this and I sure don't want to see or smell any smoke.

Thanks

#1 set your new chip to stock and run it there for a few days to a week make sure it is ok ad working the right way http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

#2 then overclick it in steps going 25 to 50 mhz the first then by 25 mhz every move after that http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

#3 most AMD K6-2 chips will need about .2volts more v-core for every 50mhz jump

the easyest to do, is go to 450 on the first jump, dont change the voltage try it if you get and boot errors or any errors in windows then up the v-core buy .1 volt at a time till the errors go away

DO the next more at around 2 week's if your board will do it try to go to 475mhz you will have to up the volts for that move.

do not go over 2.7 volts v-core unless you have VERY good cooling as in a alpha heat sink, thermal compound, etc, etc.

READ every thing you can find about overclocking at all the web sites

be safe take your time double check all your settings and have fun http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
