Just put together a SOYO motherboard (5BT)with an Intel 233 MMX with 64 megs of EDO RAM. The instructions said overclock at your own risk. Can this be overclocked? I'm a bit new to this term, what do I have to do to overclock? How fast can I overclock this? How do I know how fast it is going? What are the downsides? Mucho Thanks
Not sure with the 5BT, but I've got the Soyo 5EHM board. Had a 233MMX on it for quite some time, but with PC100 SDRAM. Ran it at many different speeds trying to find it's sweet spot, which turned out to be 285 (3 x 95) at 2.9 volts. Ran very well & error free for months, but replaced it with K6/2-400 (@450)
The 233 is still running great, but the M-Tech board it now lives on won't o/c worth a darn, so it's idling at 266...
Would have to look up your board's specs, but the CPU should do anything the board allows under 300, if the EDO can hack it.
