Just re-did everyting as advised, this time the peliter lasted about 2 second before totaly overheatsink and now I have a black piece of silicone that says Pentium 3 on the side. I am about ready to send that TOM ***bleep*** a mail bomb or 20! GRRRR!!!!!!! 200 f***g bucks down the drain because of that ***bleep***! Someone has to die for this!!!!!! My hacker friends unite! Cause **DELETED**$2,000 in damages, or better yet, write a virus that turns their CPU fans off! That would be sweet revenge for the whole f****g server to fry like the chip they killed! I have to go break something.
EDIT: Sorry KBug.. I understand how you feel. Breaking stuff (that you don't really want) helps.. Risks are inherent in this game.
And, Be Advised: Be VERY CAREFUL with your words - they may be taken as a threat by someone, whether it is meant as such or not. You won't be warned again about this. -socalgal

Sorry man to hear about it... but I just have to say one thing and don't take it bad... overclocking had took another victim.

KBug: Take the chip off the board, get a magic marker , write "TOM" on it ,then get a small hammer and take your time, savoring every blow , then put pieces in an urn for good safekeeping. When you get your computer running again place the urn on your monitor.
Whenever things go bad again, you can keep adding to the urn .By the time the urn is full you will have reached a level of total Karma and acheived a peace of mind second to none.
Sorry to hear about your experience and ,I hope, all goes well in the future.
Sincerely,
Ed (the pickel)

I agree with chpbgt, you are gonna have to tone down that message if you dont want to get a lecturing from management. stories like yours, simply reinforce the fact that I will never use a peltier because of the risks involved. I myself am gonna fit as many fans as my case can fit and power supply can handle and the biggest heatsink i can fit on my mobo. that is what i would advise for you in the future. for now, i would look into legal recourse against the site you purchased the peltier from. its better to get even than to get mad.
good luck

Bad day!
Ok, here's an idea!!
Wrap the CPU up and have it returned to the dealer you bougth it from. Don't mention what happened, instead say something like "..I was processing a document with word and all of a suddent the computer shut down.." I bet he won;t care, and have your CPU replaced (it is in guarantee isn;t it). He's not gonna lose any money or anything, and after all customer satisfaction is more important o him (just make sure he realizes that). So sending the CPU back to Intel is no trouble for either him or Intel.
Good luck...
BTW: If you recently gave up smoking, DONT take it up again just because of that...

Sorry to hear about your troubles Killerbug, I've fried a chip or two in my time! You can put this down in your personal history as "Black November". Soon as you finish blowing off steam, I'm sure you'll realize that "when you ride hard, you die hard"! O/C'ing has got it's risks man.

Does everywhere not say "overclock at your own risk", numerous disclaimers, etc.?? Sorry to hear about it /forum/frown.gif . Lousy peltiers!

Sorry everyone, I still think tom deserves soem damage, but you hackers can do that if you want. Does anyone have those clips that atach the heatsink, PCB, and back to the CPU? I accidently broke the first one while I was taking my heatsink off, and figured, "screw it" for the second and tore it apart. If I can get those little clips I will bring it back, although these people care not of coustomer satisfaction, they probably have a great deal going with Intel, and a report they refused to replace a dead CPU would kill them. I just cant stand all this stuff about, "heat kills CPUs" I bought this setup not to overclock more (as i already reached the limits of both ram and motherboard), but to cool the CPU, how irronic! Well, at least i know tom will burn like my P3-450.
