Never trust an EggHead

I ordered the CL 2500DTT 5.1 speakers from them 5 days ago. I usually buy all my stuff from BUY.com to pun intended. Last week though Buy.com had the speakers on backorder and Egghead had them 2 dollars less plus Fedex Express 3 day delivery for free. So I thought I would give them a try that away the speakers will be here in 3 days (WRONG) Well the same day I orderd them they charged my card and said the warehouse was getting the shipment ready. 2 days late they send me and email saying they have been shipped and they provided a tracking number. So I thought great 3 days they will be here. I typed in the tracking number and I get this error from FEDEX saying no such number exist. So I call egghead and the operator says well we will send you a new tracking number sir. "Okay great". Well no new number 3 days later so I call today and i get the same result. I was just wondering if this is a typical practice of EGGHEAD.com or an unusual practice. Does any one else have a good, bad or horror story you want to share?

I bought an inexpensive scanner form them about a year and a half ago from them and everything went fine. I have quit buying from them though b/c their deals seem 'cheesy' compared to others on the web.

Egghead has a pretty lousy rating, 3.3 out of a possible 7.0 (http://www.resellerratings.com/vendone.cgi?company=Egghead+computers), over at

I have never had a problem with egghead, but I only use it for hard to find items since there product line is huge.
But,
I am compleatly sold on Micro Wharehouse the service cannot be beat. They one time went out of there way for me when I was having a warranty problem with a Jazz drive (Iomega). In a pinch, you can order by 10pm eastern and get it the next day. http://www.warehouse.com/

Egghead has my speaker for 216
Buy has them for 218
Micro Warehouse for 299


I know I was b!tching about the service I am recieving from Egghead but the price is more reasonable. Maybe in the future I can do buisness with Micro and then I will decide if the price is worth it.

I try and use resellerratings.com when looking to making a purchase online. It’s helped me find some excellent sources for products that aren’t among the mainstream vendors.
