I'm going to lap today but the articles I have read only used 600 gritt paper. Anyone know what els to use.

I start with 320 and work my way up from there starting with a 600 will take you for ever /forum/smile.gif start with 320 then go to like a 400 then 600 etc etc. take it slow and make sure you keeping it flat also i lap my heat sink to, every one I,ve done has been warped to even my alpha /forum/smile.gif

I started with 600 and used 3 sheets. That's all mine needed.

I used 400, then 600, then 1000, then finished with 1500 grit.

Hi. I lapped my K6-3 450..runs now with pc133 @ 525. Start with 300, 400, 600, 1000, 1200 and maybe 1500. ROTATE THE CHIP EVERY MINUTE OR SO. This will prevent bebveling of the chip. If done carefully...this is a worthwhile projuect as you can see by my results. Rinse the cpu off before moving to the next grade of paper in rubbing alcohol. This removes the aluminum residue.
