Help with Projection TV

I know that my problem is unrelated to computers.

As this is the only site I have faith in, I need to know if any of you people know of a forum/newgroup on Projection TV's.

My PTV is on the fritz and I am very concerned if it is worth fixing or if a service agent is replacing something that may not need to be replaced.

Okay, I didn't want to bore anyone with the details but here goes:

My Hitachi Projection TV is about 3 1/2 yrs old. Just in the past few weeks, I noticed that the video would "lose synch". I'm not sure if that is the actual symptom but the picture would have a pincushion effect (ie. hourglass look). The lenses would then separate (ie. I see blue, green and yellow). If I shut the TV off and on, then the picture would synch back.

My concern is that if one(or more) of the tubes are flaky, then it would be a few hundred per. This is on top of the $100 onsite and assessment fees some repair shops are quoting.

What I really need to know is if the tube is actually busted or if it is one of the ic circuits.
