What is a PCI Host Bridge?

It is the CPU(host)-to-PCI bus Bridge. This logical bridge allows for bus-mastering as it buffers the CPU from potential PCI bus addressing conflicts. It maps the CPU address into PCI bus addresses and in general all PCI target retries and disconnects are automatically handled by this bridge.
