mobo says my cpu temp is 38celcius is this hot or cool

No, that is not very hot.. In fact, that is great. I have seen temps. as high as 55degrees c. and no problems. What cooling are you using? I have an alpha with a temp. adjusting fan. (it runs faster when the temp. goes up) It runs at half speed below 40 degrees.....

i was able to get my p3 500 (o/c to 560) down to 29 deg. celcius - i used a global win vek32 cooler modified for the p3

well actually it's now at 34celcius. I popped the casing off my p2 333. then put a ton of thermal paste on my heatsink. I also added an antec fan in the middle of the heatsink that does 5000rpm. and two other fans on the ends of the heatsink.

correction it's at 27.5 celcius now. my problem is now increasing the vcore voltage. my soyo 6ba+111 only lets me go up to 2.2 volts. initially my p2 333 won't even run at 375mhz without uping the voltage. won't even hit 400 without going up 5%. so I'm now at 478mhz at 2.2 volts and I know heat is not a problem since 27.5 is pretty low. Am I stuck at taping pins to go up to 2.4 volts. I'm thinking that I could hit 500 at a higher voltage.
