that if I have a motherboard that will support a K62 500 then it will be able to support a k6III CPU? Reason being I have a GA-5AX MB and I want to upgrade the most inexpensive way I can. Why not a K6III? I have a 400k62 now OC'd to 450 but looking at Sandras benckmarks of a k63 make me even more interested in the chip. My mohterboard does not say anything about the k63 but I think that is due to the release time of the board itself.

I think that the k6-3 is a better performing chip, I have a k6-2 400 trying to get 450 out of it. I would think that it would work on the board if you can support the 2.4v. I think with that extra cache that chip is pretty much more powerful than the k6-2, but they are a little more expensive. I would get the k6-3 but that is me.

Just wondering, my board has voltages all the way up to like 3 something. That should be suffice, right? Looking at the K63 450 myself.
Yeah, the K6-III should work nicely there. The only differences between the II and the III is within the CPU, so the board shouldn't care. You may want to flash your bios if available, though, so the board will report the correct CPU.
