First off let me say that I'm not putting anybody down, just honestly want to know this.

I understand development of cooling systems for the fastest available processor is done with the aim to have the fastest system possible, but I keep reading of those trying it to speed up older stuff. Can't understand this.
Why spend the money for peltiers, watercoolers, etc., instead of just buying the faster CPU in the first place? Or save that money towards new, faster one?

BTW - Yes, I do O/C my systems as far as possible using large HS & fan.

The idea is often to spend $300 on a cheapscate computer so if your cooling kills it, you loose very little.

we don't spent money on a watercoolers and peliers we invest in it, so whenever we upgrade to a newer CPU we can use the same cooling systems.

Ahhhem... because it's there... and I want to know what the limits are. http://www.sysopt.com/reviews/watercool/EH2INS.jpg

personally I do not do anything that requires over a 300mhz CPU anyway.
