I'm expecting my Pioneer 104S slot load DVD in tomorrow, and am wondering what speeds I should expect for "ripping" audio tracks from Audio CDs to MP3s. I've heard that it's rather fast, but want to know what I should expect.
Thanks!

for a 5 minute song -
With the Blade dll decoder, it takes me about 5 minutes. On the Lame dll decoder, takes about 2.

on my pioneer 103s (32X), i can rip DAE at 12X average. cdspeed says the stream is not accurate, but my ears cannot tell the difference.

Its way better than my old Masa****a 24x I had beforer. That I would have about 8 errors a CD. With this one, I get none, unless theres a major scratch.
If i extract to a WAV, a 5 minute song takes 30 seconds, and if I go from WAV to MP3, it takes just as long as CD->MP3. I guess the CD->Wav has to wait for the wav bits to get encoded into MP3's

Very interesting. Thanks for the info... I can't wait to try it out for myself! If only the UPS guy would get here with the drive.... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
