I've read a good deal about the 300a being stable at overclocked speeds. Has anyone had success with the SLot-1 333 Celeron? I've got an Abit BX-6 II motherboard on the way, and I'm going to shoot for 450 with the chip and board. Any thoughts?

I have a 333 Celeron... seems I am one of the unluckier ones 'cause it is only stable at 416 and won't even post at 500+
Not many options with this chip, you either get lucky at the 83mhz bus speed and get 416, or settle for 375... or get really lucky and hit something higher... that's why I was able to get this thing for only $25. Though soon I will probably be getting a new Celeron since they are so inexpensive...

You'll be lucky to get 416. Usually the HD craps out at the 83mhz setting, either that or your PCI sound card or modem won't go.
375 is the usual, 416 at best, stick the whole thing in a freezer, and you might get 500.

As with anything, it is luck of the draw. I've got a PPGA 333 running at 500 right now with the retail Intel PPGA heatsink. 333's have a reputation of not being that great for overclocking to 100Mhz bus speed (i.e. 500Mhz) and the Slot 1 333s are probably the least likely to make it there. If it will not get there with normal cooling, perhaps something like a Slot 1 Alpha heatsink would help it out. Give it a shot though. You might be one of the lucky ones.

Well guys I guess I'm one of the lucky ones! I have a 333 slot 1 running at 516mhz 5x103 @ 2.4 volts. you can see my benchmarks @ www.aros.net/~mntsnow/benchmarks (http://www.aros.net/~mntsnow/benchmarks)

Well, Mntsnow,,,,,
I just tried my buddies new BH6 ABIT with a Cel 333 Slot1, it's a late rev (1.60E) MB. It has PC-99 color coded connectors ( The early BH6 has all black connectors) and it has more FSB settings than a SOYO! I ran the Celery at 450 at 90X5, and at 475 at 95X5. Wouldn't do 100x5 but man the FSB settings!!!
This thing goes up to 155Mhz FSB. 1/4 or 1/3 at 124 and up! Steps from 75 to 78 to 81 to 83 to 85 to 90 to 95 to 100 to 103 to 105 to 110 to 112 to 115 to 124 to 126 to 129 just like that all the way up to 155!
Man o-man o-man! I just wish I had enough time to swap out his mb for my old style BH6! And it only cost him $95.00!
I almost want to go out and buy one!

BBA,
Thats cool about all the FSB's My chip is on a ABIT BX6-2 board and I am using a 4500Glacier heatsink. I think that If I got a ALPHA I could be stable at 2.2 or 2.3v. But I think I might be ordering one of the pretested P3's that Auraedge mentioned in the "steals and deals" forum.
