Hi,
a friend has a big problem with his p3 450. After he bought it he overclocked it to 504 and then to 558. everything was allright and stable!! great performance with a V3 2000 clocked to 170.
But then the benchmarks got really low.even clocking it back to 450
and disabling L2 (we thought it might be broken) didn't help.
to give you a idea how this thing performs now at 504 on a abit bh-6
here some values. BTW things got low after flashing bios and a hang up. But everything is still working only much slower.
3dmark99 max race 39fps shooter 33fps !!
sandra99 cpu benchmark 922 fpu 465
gamestar 800x600 60fps
please help

I would try flashing the BIOS again, make sure you read how to clear the CMOS settings in the BIOS during the flash update.

I did it with my celeron.... I notice ... it's OEM and it won't happen for retail vers.

I use a burn-in prog. which check the stability of my overclocking system... and it's not stable and when I put it back to the orig. speed the oem celeron become very slow in calculating... I didn't notice this till I found out that it takes so long to format a disk...
But it won't happen to retail vers. .. I dunno if other proc. like ur friend has, do the same thing.

But it can be your testing program is not good enough 'cause benchmarking concern for several things....
