Nobody's perfect...

In defense of AMD I would have to say that I understand their concerns - first for lost profits (of course), and second for the consumer.

While it is perfectly fine to sell the technology or a kit to modify the CPU yourself, in your own home; the selling of an altered or adulterated product could reflect badly on AMDs public image and provide an avenue that could lead to rip-offs of the "average" consumer. And of course this cuts into AMD's profit margin - when you can get a 750-800mhz modified CPU at 1/2 the cost of the legitimate OEM.

I do not believe that Intel, IBM, Motorola, or anyone else would allow this sort of thing to go on - buying a Celeron guarneteed to overclock and buying a modified CPU is two different things - let's be fair.

What are they thinking? Are they nuts? " They are stating that the retailers reworking the Athlon CPUs is violating either Copyrights or Patents held by AMD. "
