Man, I'm ticked! I recently moved from Iowa to California, and lost all the paperwork for my Gateway computer that I bought just over a year ago. Well, I succeeded in frying the motherboard and was just sure I only had a 1 year warranty, so I went out and bought a new MB, soundcard, video card, and case, and built myself a new, better computer. Then I looked at Gateway's site and saw that they're offering a three year warranty standard. Uh-oh. I emailed them with my serial number and customer number, and guess what? Warranty's still in effect until Dec 4 2001. Think they'll just let me bring in the bad motherboard and get a replacement or should I put everything back in the Gateway case and take it in? If I get a new MB from Gateway, my wife said I can buy the stuff to make a second computer. (for her!)
Let me know what you think.
TIA

Put it all back in the case.....
Did the same kind of thing with a Rex Pro (differnat money scale Irealise). Screen broke, rang the supplier who said the screen wasn't covered cos it was so delicate http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
Emailed Franklin in US and then their European part who said it was covered and if I return it they'll replace the machine.
Good news you'd think - but really needed a handheld so splashed out on a CE machine - umm (anyone want to buy a Rex Pro??)

I agree http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Get what you deserve, you paid for this warranty when you bought the system and not taking advantage of it would be throwing money away. Besides, sounds like it would make your wife happy happy. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Just ask for a posted part to replace the damaged part, then send in the damaged part, most warranties allow for this as it saves the OEM a lot of money on the warranty as they do not need to send an engineer, check it out first !
