no sound card or video card or monitor
or modem or any of that jazz

You should do a search for barebones systems. Sorry I can't help more but I just lost all my favs, Well everything. But that should get you started.

you could try Tiger Direct ( http://www.tigerdirect.com ) .. they're pretty cheap.... jdr microdevices has fairly cheap processors, although tiger might still be better ( http://www.jdr.com ) ... that's all i can think of... just do what jad said, too and see what you come up with
