The core voltage is 2.8 volts on this processor, right? Well, I tried to go up to 83mhz from 75mhz, but it wouldn't boot. I wen5t up to 2.9 volts to see if it would take. Booted up, but froze...Then I went up to 3.0 volts, and viola - booted and is working. I'm using Waterfall Pro to cool and optimize.

Do you think this is too high? I have waterfall throttled to 90%. Temp is staying low, anywhere from 86 to low 90's F.

Please reply if you have any input re: this situation.

Thanks again to all of you who have helped me.

Extra voltage is a common means of getting a few extra Mhz overclocking. The Pentium MMX core should be able to handle the extra .2v for quite a long time without any ill effects, especially if you are keeping it nice and cool, which it appears you are. I would not recommend going much higher than 3.0v with that chip, but I have heard of them running for months on even as high as 3.5 volts. Keep an eye out for any kind of instability, and if it does crop up you may need to look into extra cooling.

To keep you calm down let me tell that I was used one 200MMX at 3.1 volts for more than a year running at 266Mhz(83.3x3). It's true that I was using two powerfull coolers and a big heatsink over it.
Good Luck and keep the good job. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
