I have a Pentium 3 and I don't know how to remove the heat sink off of the chip. It has 4 pins that run through the chip. I don't want to try it untill I know how to do it so I don't have to buy a new chip.

Just be cautious when you do it, it can be nerve-racking. Just when you think yoru gnona break it, BAM it pops off.

Ebodycuda, its not nearly as hard as you think, and it sounds like the CPU is gonna break in half when you do it, but its not.

The little plastic clips are threaded in such a way that when you push them out, they make a horrible noise. Don't worry, if you take care not to flex the CPU, you will be safe.

one peice of advice i will give you if you use the 3dfx tech. pop two pins at the same time so there is less twisting of the cpu. i did mine like this and it worked great.

The 4 holes you see on the back of your casing where the holo sticker is the part you want to push out. Get your case screw, the one that holds your case together. Put your case screw in the hole and put screw it in with a screw driver, then it just clicks out. I had to kind of rip my friends apart cause we had no case screw. No damage done to the CPU and with his new Globalwin heat sink and fan the temp is great. Good luck with your P3 case removal.
