Does anyone know if there is any way of testing a printer cable for bidirectional ability (besides "it is supposed to be faster", because I don't my printer has been faster since I replaced the cable with a bidi).

Thanx for all help!

The speed is increased only if your printer support bi-directional communications with the computer. (Note: NOT Bi-directional print head movement)

Bi-directional printers usually install a printer utility that test bi-directional communications. Also, computer printer port must be set to bi-directional mode. Most of the time, it's a Bios option. Earlier models may be a jumper setting.
