This might be a stupid question, but is there a PCMCIA DVD hardware decoder card, and if there is how much can one cost me?

My Dell Latitude came with one....It says Dell on the card, but I forget the company that makes it right now...Found it...Margi.
$299

I havn't even tried it yet so I can't recommend it. I'll look around for a review. It comes with s-video, normal video, and left and right audio connection.

I don't know about a decoder card, but a few of the laptops we have at work have DVD drives and ATI RagePro LT video with ZoranSoft DVD. Works ok...

Do you guys think that the player makes a difference in DVD playback? Or all the players do the same job?

The player definitely makes a difference, and the best soft player I have ever used is WinDVD from Intervideo. It plays better than my CL DXR2, at much higher resolutions.
