I bought a sony about two years ago and when i went to reformat my hard drive i was checking to make sure that i had the windows cd. well to my surprise i had windows companion not the full version of windows. Now why would they do that?? I should be given the full version not some crappy upgrade. has anyone else had this problem with a store bought computer??

Most retail computers have Windoze on the restore disk and does not give the disk itself. HP has recently changed and hopefully others will follow suit.

My early computers were Packard Smells. Though I loved my 486! All those came with Win (3.1 & Win95) so I could dump the machines and reload. Since I've been having my machines built (non-proprietory), I always get full version OS CDs. Sony is so ... Sony! They want you to craw back to them for help ($).
