After looking at the specs on my MB and those on the Abit BH6, I am going to build a system just for overclocking.

Is the BH6 the best MB to overclock?
Which brand of memory is the best for OCing?
Do all the celerons overclock equally well?
(the 366 is just a liitle more $ than the 300)
Any other points I should consider?

Thanks! Your response are very much appreciated!

Signed,
A novice overclocker:-)

bx6 revision 2 is better if you want to pay the extra cash. corsair ram seems to overclock really well but any pc100 cas 2 will do fine.

I'll second gERONIMo on both points. The BH6 is obsolete.

I like BH6, and it infact does outperform the BX6.2, if you did your homework, you would know that. Any PC-100 ram should work just fine for an overclock of a 66mhz chip, go for something with low NS (like 6ns, not 8), and cheap. As for the last question...get a PPGA celeron 300A from [url]http://www.triptonics.com/OCd/[url], the one guaranteed at 450 with 2.0 volt, and get a "slotkit", called there "a slot 1 adapter", and get a big fan/heatsink setup, I belive there is a package with all this in it. The BH6 will not go as fast as the BX6.2, but do you realy expect to even get to 133mhz fsb with a celeron? Becides, the BH6 is cheaper.

When the BH6 works, it works. I have one. If I had to choose again, I would look for a different motherboard.

cobain1crt - The P3-600 is due in September. It is a 133MHz FSB package. Why tell the guy to get an obsolent board?

Also, learn more about SDRAM specs before you spout about nanosecond numbers. CAS Latency is what really matters.

As I have said before, you seem to be writing when you should be reading!

As for me, I've made a few errors here and always come back promptly to correct them and appologize. 'Nuff said.

I'm just a cannonballer, but I have built a number of overclocked gamin rigs with Abit boards. BX-6, BH6, & BX6-2. You read about alot of ski-kats that have problems with Abit boards. I personally never, ever have had even one (1) problem! But I buy quality components that are overclocking friendly. I like the Abit BX6-2 cause it has a ton of overclocking features. Like 117mhz bus speed. This will take a good 300a to 527mhz.
I only use Samsung GH or Micron -8e PC100 sdram. Right now a stick of 128mb Micron cas2 -8e is going for $105 + $10 frt at AGP Computer (ph 888.383.8247, agpcomputer.com). But phone in the order and say you saw price on PriceWatch.
CPU? Some of the smaller resellers test their cpu's. E-mail them that you're looking for a Celeron that will do 504mhz or better. For a extra $20, you might get a heck of a deal. I read where some are getting 581mhz from a 466 Celeron (that's 83mhz bus X 7 multiplier). But 83mhz buss is overclocking all your components, so choose them carefully.
Hard drives? 7200rpm IBM's overclock well. I get em from tjt.com.
Other components that work well for me right now: Vortex II A3D pci sound card from mwave.com $35, Asus 36X or $40X light-on CD-ROMs, Aopen v.90 ITU modem from ftnyc.com $50 + $5 frt, Aopen HX-08 ATX 300w full tower case (buy 3 extra 80mm fans w/power supply connectors).

Just my $.02.
