Hey guys! I hope everyone is having a great year thusfar.

Could someone let me know if there is an easy way to tell what voltage my AGP slot is carrying?

I am not an electrician and do not have any of the tools (if they'd help), so I'd like a software solution. I have checked the webpage (soyo for my Soyo 5EMA+ V1.0) and they don't say. Neither does the manual. Soyo usually takes forever getting back to me so... anyone have any ideas? They'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks-Dave

Drop it in the bath tub. If it sparks then you know there wa a few volts going to it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif.

Seriously, I can't help I'm affraid. Why do you want to know this anyway?

I am having problems with my Annihilator and it is either a problem with the AGP slot not providing enough voltage or my PS is not strong enough (250W). I have a BUNCH of stuff int his computer so i am hoping it is the PS. I have a 330W on the way.
Thanks-Dave

It sparked for 41 seconds. Can that be translated into voltage units? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Yep 41 seconds sounds good. The correct equation is -
number of seconds divided by voltage expected multiplied by number of windows installs done tonight minus hours of sleep that were needed gives you....

a pretty random number http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

If you got a lot of hard drives and fans and stuff in your case it could be hitting the psu quite hard..........

2 hdd (1 7200)
2 cd-roms
6 fans
3 cards
5 usb devices
A good bit of stuff, eh?

Hi,

I hate to say that, but it is a voltage problem. Your mobo can not sustain the 3.3v the GeForce requires.

I had the same problem on my GA BX2000. My PC would run for 2 min and then goes in STR (with alarm going on).
Of course, Gigabyte web site does not say that they have problem with GeForce cards...

So, I sent back the GeForce and bought a Matrox G400 MAX.

BTW, do not bother replacing the PSU with a 300W, it won't help...

Is it an athlon system? i read some where once that some of the mobos had a problem with under powering the AGP slot! Don't know if there was a soln or anything, but i don't expect the 300W PSU would hurt you have quite a lot of stuff running.

PSs have helped some people. I hope it will work. I will find out soon. I hope I am not in the same boat. I think it is too much of a lateral change instead of an upgrade to go from a Voodoo 3 3K to a G400. I do have a guy that wants to trade his G400 and a ocable celeron for it. Thanks. Any other ideas?
Thanks

There are some boards which allow you to select a 3.5volt i/o.
If you're changeing card and like v. high image quality, look for a Savage4.

PS didn't help http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif. Trading the card for a Matrox G400 http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif.
Thanks-Dave

PS-
Soyo swears up and down that it should work. They said if my VD3 3K worked then the GeForce should too. I say no...

Hey Daveleau,

I feel sorry for you...
The same thing happened to me, but I have to say that I am very pleased with my G400 MAX...
I am sure you will enjoy yours...
