I have an OEM c300a (Costa Rican) ?week. I have been able to o/c it to 375 w/o any problems (running on bh6) using 2.0 v. I have tried to o/c to 450 without success (POST but locks during Win98 startup). I am using a standard heatsink and fan (no thermal compound yet) Case is open. Bios reports temp as 34 degrees when I reboot after failed overclock. Will better heat transfer improve success of the o/c? BTW I did increase the voltage to 2.2 for the 450 o/c to get it to post? Any suggestions appreciated. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

if you use thermal compound on a standard heatsink you should be able to hit it.

34 degrees is not unbearable.
If it posted at 2.2v then try 2.3v.
It should not be a heat issue right at cold startup, heat tends to show up after some run time, and during intense apps.
Try a bit more voltage, and cross your fingers. Also, remember that its not 100% guaranteed to run at 450, unfortunately.
If it posts, and runs at higher voltage, then worry about more cooling.
If it doesn't, likely you would have to use extreme cooling (peltier) to make it work.

You should up the voltage to 2.2v

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I will try upping the voltage to 2.3 in the am and will buy the grease sometime tomorrow. Thanks again http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Hi again.
Was able to complete Win 98 boot-up and run some benchmarking utils before it locked up using 2.3 v. I am going to try the cooling answer to see if I can get it stable at 450. Anyone know where I can dl Motherboard Monitor? Thanks
Thermal grease is doing it's trick I am now stable at 464. Nice little boost for a 5 buck investment. BTW I was also able to drop the voltage back down to 2.2. :>
