I have a Shuttle 637A MB with a PII-233.
I tried raising the bus speed from 66 to 75..
system would only show me the windows wallpaper and wouldn't boot any further.

I return the bus speed to 66 (booted OK)...then I tried increasing the CPU multiplier from 3.5 to 4.0...would not boot at all (never even got a video signal for my monitor to leave standby mode)

I was really disappointed by these results.

The system components include: Adaptec SCSI 2940UW, Sony CDR-940s, Viper 550, Jaz Drive.

ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Should I strip out the adaptec card? Thanks!

Hi!

SCSI devices has a very hard time working on a "unofficial" bus, like the 75MHz you´re trying. So try to strip out the card.
Your processor is multiplier locked, so u cant change the multiplier.
Changing the bus speed from 66 to 75 would give you 262,5MHz and that should be possible. As you know you are pretty close to the magic overclock, so try increasing the voltage, but only to 2.9v not more unless you have extreme cooling. For that see this www.3dhardware.net/features/slot1voltage/index6.shtml (http://www.3dhardware.net/features/slot1voltage/index6.shtml)
You should also get a nice huge heatsink/fan combo and try leaving the case open.
But i would go for the c300a, just spend that 90$ and get yourself a 450 for "free"
