What are the general temperature ranges of a non-overclocked Celeron 300a and that of an overclocked one, at 450, 464, and 504 Mhz.
Right now, at 450 Mhz, my 300a (SL32a), with the standard retail fan/heatsink combo, two case fans, one blowing in and one out, a power supply fan blowing out, and a harddrive fan blowing in, runs at around 39C or 102 degrees F.
I can't run at 464 Mhz on my ASUS P2B because of the bios, version 1008, has disabled the turbo mode. It ran fine before on version 1007.

P.S. The voltage is set at the standard 2.0 volts.

I would put another heatsink/fan combo on the back. Worked fine for me!
my celeron runs at 28-29c in normal windows and goes up to about 34c during 3d gaming there good for 66 and above so yours is fine well within tollerance's

Is that your CPU temp Alan ? or your Mobo temp. 28 C seems very cool for a CPU temp.

I'm getting 31 deg. with a standard heatsink/fan with 3 case fans though one blows from the top right onto the Celeron.

Try downloading CPUIdle. It doesn't slow down the CPU or reduce performance but instead it idles the CPU when not utilized to 100%. My PII 450 running at 558Mhz has a system temp of 33C and CPU of 35C
GPo thats my cpu temp pretty cool eh!
bios give's me the same reading as SIV which came with my mobo which is a gigabyte 6bxe
bios ver 3.0
windows running after 1 hr using word ect 28-29c,
after 1 hr of recoil temp reach's max of 34c,
i changed my std cooler for a crystal cooler all aliminuim (think thats spelt right) with thermal paste,
directly on the side of the case inline with the cpu is a psu fan drawing out the air i have vent holes in the front at the bottom and the pwr supply fan has also been reversed
i think my graphics card gets hotter than my cpu and i've got a fan on that aswell.
happy cooling

I have a heatsink on the back and of course one on the front too. When windoze is running normal, like now i am writing to you, it never gets over 28c and with Unreal flyby software, q2 soft, mp3, prime95, rc5 and wintune98 all running at one time never gets over 31! I guess it helped to "grind", just looked it up in the... uhh wordbook http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif, the CPU flat.
