I just bought a 333 oem and it came with a cheap fan (actually the fan is faster than the retail, but the heatsink is not as substantial). I can overclock it to 500 for 5 minutes at 2.2 volts, then it crashes. With each bootup, it gets less until about the third, it wouldn't even get to windows. Does this mean I have a good chance with better heat sink or it will never really be that stable? Maybe a better conduction cream? The heat sink doesn't seem super hot. Does anybody know if the 400 or 433 runs hotter by default or they are so perfect that they generate about the same heat as a 333 at 66 bus?

how warm it the CPU itself? If the heatsink is not very hot, then you have insufficient heatsink jelly. Also, I would sugjest getting a decent sized heatsink, if nothing else, it will lengthen the life of the CPU.

Take out all your cooling stuff and replace it with quality stuff if you plan to be overclocking a lot...Esp at 500Mhz on a celeron 333. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Congrats! Well done on those 500! I sure would like to get so far with my c300a. If you can even load Windoze, you are at the halfway. Cooling, yes yes and yes! What you need is a heatsink on the back of the CPU. "Only try this with a slot1 processor http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif" Hehe! And if you have got an Abit mobo, crank up the voltage to 2.3V.
Keep COOOOOL! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
