The system seems stable, but do you guys think 2.9v is a tad too much?

I have left the pc casing open.
Using heatsink + fan combo with thermal paste, and a secondary panaflow DC fan to blow across the heatsink.

AMD says their chips will fry sooner or later no matter how much cooling if you go above 2.5 volts.have seen them run at 2.8 but who know's how long the life span will be?

I have same kind of system with similiar desires;
(k6-2:350 with asus p5a)
I would like to overclock!? I've tried several things....not very good results:
SETTINGS RESULT
4.0x100 2.2v booted, fine than froze later
4.5x100 2.3v General Protection fault
4.5x100 2.2v No boot

***What can I do; I want to o'clock!

I have a oem k6-2 380@450. 2.5volts..
seismik if your pc ran for a while and then quit later(4x100 2.2v), that is a heat problem. When it was running, the cpu was cool, then as time passed it overheated...try these little tips to keep your cpu cool....
1. if your heat sink has a thermal pad on it take it off and use a thin layer of thermal paste.
2. while you are at radioshack getting the thermal paste get ya' a extra fan to blow on the cpu. the most popular fan that r/s has is like a squirrel cage fan(powerful and quite) and they are on sale for $5.99. point it directly at the cpu..maybe one inch from it...
Good luck!!

i run my k62 400 at 502 at 2.9 volts it seems to be fine i was having backing out of games and such at 2.7 so i cranked it a little higher it is perfectly great cpu idle keeps it about 80f when i play a game cpuidle disabled it does rise to 118f or so but it does not hiccup. what i think is happening some super 7 boards just dont pass enough current so upping the volts just brings the current up were it would be on a board with stronger current remember we are now pushing 500 550 mhz that requires more current twice the volts half the current required.
