A friend told me that the multiplier lock (P II) could be turned off by tapeing some pins. Does anybody know ?

Yes. The answer is no. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Taping pins can let a 66MHz bus processor run on a 100MHz bus (pin B21 sounds familiar...), and can let you adjust the voltage in crude increments. That's about it I'm afraid...

Are we brave enuf to save that anything Electrical can't be modified beyond it's original state, Intel can do it... Intel has done it.. Intel has take the SAME core as the P3-500 and changed it's clock setting... It might take a 'slight' more than the old scotch tape over pin 1 idea BUT, I do believe it is/has been done. (From believable info) Not that mine hit 5.5x YET...

Oh yeah. It's been done. Some guys in Europe have added a device on the back of the CPU board that does the trick. There is an article with photos somewhere. Believe me, it is beyond reach for most users. The only reasonable avenue is FSB and Vcore stepping.

Intel doesn't care about overclockers, only re-markers. I'll put $0.02 on the line that FSB locking doesn't happen.
