I have the Packard Bell PLT 4400 series 266MHz computer. I was trying to
overclock it and could not get it to work. This mother board is the Intel
PD440FX or the PB's 82440fx (PB760)mother board.
In the PB's and Intel's manual they both state the same jumper configuration. I have moved the jumper from 266 MHz to 300 MHz and nothing worked, it did not boot.
Has anyone tried this, and if so how did you get it to work? What am I not doing?

Thanks for the help.

The CPU is probably multiplier locked.

All P2's are multiplier locked meaning you can't OC them by changing the multiplier. The only way is to increase the bus speed and I don't think the FX chipset supports anything over 66Mhz. so you're stuck with that mobo... I would suggest getting a new mobo with higher bus speeds.

P.S. the P2 isn't that good for OCing because of the .35 micron... The only way to really OC is with the Celerons

I was able to overclock my PII 266 to 300 mhz by changing the jumper settings as described on the Intel website. When I set the jumpers for 333mhz it booted at 133.

My new project is to get this celeron PPGA 500 processor to work in this mobo. Has anyone been able to do this? What jumper settings did you use?

Most PII 266 were not multiplier locked. There may be a BIOS issue.
I OCd a gateway with an FX chipset from 266 to 300
