Hi, I'm currently overclocking my retail PII 400mhz to 448mhz and I was wondering what temperature range is good for the cpu. I get temps around 39 degrees c. Is this too hot, or safe? I'm just using the fan/heat sink that came w/it. Thanks!

For the S.E.C.C. package processor:
Minimum Tplate = 5 C
Maximum Tplate = 70 C
S.E.C.C.2 Thermal specs:
L2 Cache
Min. = 5 C
Max. = 105 C
Min. T. = 5 C
Max. T. = 75 C

Thank you Bleeding Edge. I have the SECC and I recently checked it--up to 41c, but your info tells me that that's fine. But may I ask what "Minimum Tplate and Maximum Tplate" refer to/mean? Thanks again!

Tplate Temperature: Key areas for temperature measurement on the Thermal plate. Underneath/behind the outer plastic casing.
Go here and look under "DataSheets" for details.
Look under "Specification Udates" for your chips design flaws.. if you what to know such info.
Do a search for "Thermal Management" for a more detailed look into cooling considerations.

P.S.
Don't bust your chops over the details that you'll find in the Spec Update. Store it for your own reference.
Keep cool!
