I am a regular computer user and have always wondered how a processor work? I know that it does not have any moving parts so how does it know what to load with the click of a mouse? and how do all the different colors come up on the screen in the right places?

Your question would take more than I could type for an answer.A CPU is only a small part in a computer system.I would suggest you go to a library and pick up a computer book that explains what your looking for. This way,you can read at your leisure and also learn how a motherboard, ram, hard drive, video, sound, etc, works in the total package....hope this helps.

Please check the following web-site:

There is also another web-link called "The Museum of the Computer" but I don't remember the exact address.

Here is another good link for general CPU information - but it will probably NOT give you a basic overview.
