How do I get my computer to stop using DOS Compatability. In Control Panel-System-Performance Tab, I get the message about using DOS compatability mode reducing overall system performance...
Please Help!

Has a new OS been put on? If so, what version?

Is this a new build?
Are all your drivers up to date?
Especially the motherboard drivers!

Which drives are using DOS-compatability mode?

A new mobo driver(s) may solve the problem.

Yeah Banti is right...DOS Compataility mode, Standard EIDE Controller devices and IRQ steering for PCI devices are all typical indicators that the motherboard's chipset drivers are not loaded.

First, thanks for the replys. I am sure at least one of you probably gave me the right answer. But, my second point, as I should have stated, is that I am clueless when it comes to all these real-mode drivers and everything. If someone could please break everything down for me in layman's terms....

Also, I should have noted, yes, I just formatted the computer and installed Windows 98 using the method suggested on the ANGELFIRE.com, (somehting like that) website. However, I still encounter these problems. What's more is that my CD-ROm is not detected either. If I want to have access to a CD, I have to install some generic driver for it in my autoexec.bat and config.sys. I did try booting several times "remming" out the lines too.
Please continue to help.
I will let you know my progress! :)
