I have no idea if this is the appropriate forum for a question such as this, but I have received little help elsewhere so I figured I'd give it a try. I have the new k7s5a mb with an athlon 1400 installed on a win2000 machine. All works well (including onboard LAN) except for onboard AC97 sound. Drivers appear OK in Windows and there are no apparant problems other than the fact that no sound is emitted from the speaker/line-out jack. Tested speakers and they're ok, and latest drivers loaded but to no avail. Thanks for any help.

I've just built that board form my secondary system. No problems. Using w2k pro * meg trident agp and all the onboard sound lan etc.. dont remember seeing in the manual as to wheather there is any jumpers. There was a place in the bios to make sure the sound was activated, and I did have to use the sound drivers off the cd that came with it instead on win2k drivers. W2k did protest that the drivers were not signed as checked out for w2k, I checked ok box, it loaded the drivers and has worked fine. Hope this helps

I had mine working for a while and then lost sound - so may not be applicable to your situation although same mb but WinMe. Anyway I was having trouble installing sound; always stopping at 95%; until I discovered that I first had to run the uninstall utility for the sound that was located in the driver's WinMe folder; then install worked fine and I got sound back. Worth a try if you have an uninstall exe in the W2k driver folder
