Welcome to SysOpt

Can you tell us what kind and model your motherboard is?

I kinda doubt anybody can help you without a little something to go on...

Thanks

We would need more details to help a lot. I'll try though.

The way I understand it, you are trying to install a 128MB PC133 DIMM (RAM) along with a 64MB PC100 DIMM. Some memory modules (DIMM's) don't work with other brands - this is usually the case when one or more of them are cheapies. Also, some motherboards won't support PC133 DIMM's, even though their supposed to be backwards compatible. And some motherboards (like mine) won't recognize single-sided DIMM's (all the memory chips are on one side of the board as opposed to some on both sides). If any of these conditions exists, you will have problems.

Is your system OS/2? If so, you have to change a setting in your CMOS to have it recognize more than 64MB. I think that's in the BIOS features subset, but don't quote me on that.

Again...more details needed to give the kind of help you've obviously come here to find.

Despite that, Welcome to Sysopt! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

He has an old system by one of his many other posts. It is a K6-2 400 something AMD. I bet he is trying to put in high density ram when his system will only use low density. Or that would be my guess.
I run into that problem a while back on a BX board.
