i have an AMD 1.33 ghz on a A7A266 asus motherboard..........every few seconds it freezes for a fraction of a second, i can play music but but anything else freezes for a moment.....i have 256 mb of PC-133 RAM and i beleive that might be the problem, i live in Brazil and DDR memory is hard to find and very expensive, i dont want to buy it unless im sure thats the problem....if anybody has any ideas i would really grateful if they shared their opinions with me.....thank you.

Before you purchase the memory cards I would suggest you test them. Here's a site where you may download a program called "Docmem" and it should tell you whether there is something wrong with the memory: http://www.simmtester.com/page/products/doc/download.asp
I suspect that it may be something other than memory cause if they were bad and your system froze on you, it would freeze for good and give you an error message instead of just "freezing for a moment".

I agree that it doesn't sound like a memory problem. Do you notice any hdd activity durring the instants that it freezes?
What types of programs are you running that you notice it most?
I don't know if this would cause anything like this, but make sure your L1 / L2 are both enabled.
What other programs do you have running in the background? Maybe try shutting down some of the programs that start up durring boot.

Do you have an ASUS iPanel on your computer? When I use my iPanel I get the EXACT same results. Games and applications will stop for half of a second and then continue like nothing just happened. It will repeat as long as the computer is on. When I unplug the iPanel from the motherboard I have no problems.
Do you have a SB Live! sound card? If so, it could be a result of the file devldr16. Do a search at www.google.com (http://www.google.com) for this file and there is plenty of info on how to disable the file.
It certainly doesn't sound like a problem with the RAM to me either.
Are you running any software in the background?

How rude of me. Welcome to SysOpt! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
An iPanel is a display panel that you can purchase that sits in a 5.25" drive bay. It has 2 USB ports, a display screen, and 5 function buttons. If you are not sure what I'm talking about then I am 99.9% sure that you don't have one. It was an extra that I bought and added to my system.
Are you running anything in the system tray (down by your clock)? Are you using Motherboard Monitor, an antivirus program, etc? Do a control-alt-delete and list off for us everything that is running. This might help determine what is going on.
