I just bought a AMD Thunderbird K7-1.3Ghz 266FSB Socket A and I also bought a Mini Super Orb for AMD Socket 462 Up to 1.5 GHz. I was wondering if that fan will work with the Thunderbird 1.3 Socket A CPU I have. When I ordered the fan I thought it said it was for 462/A Processors, but when I got it, I found out that I ordered the one that is for 462 Processors. It doesn't say anywhere on it that it can be used for Socket A. I was wondering if all 462 sockets were the same as Socket A's.

Yep, it will work on your Socket A, because Socket A and Socket 462 are the same thing. I've run Chrome Orb, Super Orb, and now an Antec Jetcool on my 900 T-bird with no problems, just be very careful and patient when installing it.
Don't use the stock thermal pad that comes on the heatsink, clean it off the heatsink with a plastic scraper and then alcohol, and then use thermal paste. I recommend Arctic Silver II, but Radio Shack white paste works fine too.

Thanks for the input Kuasimodem. My fan didn't come with no stock thermal pad on it. So I guess i won't have to worry about scrapping it off. Where can i get the Arttic Silver II at?
This post should have been named "Meeting of the Cheeseheads.".
Yes, I am from WI too.

I found some instructions for installing your cooler HERE (http://www.thermaltake.com/supportduo462.htm#) . On step 3 of installation, keep your heat sink as level to the processor as possible. Notice the warning in fine print? Here it is in bold. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
*When installing any of the coolers, do not apply force to the cooler itself.
Only apply forces to the metal clip.
