That stinks! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif I hope that you have some insurance coverage that will help replace what was taken. How did they gain entry? Was there any clues to who they were? Police have any leads?
I sure hope that you catch them and recover your stuff! While this s*cks, look on the bright side and be glad no one was home and got hurt!

I assume you and your family are physically fine as you made no mention otherwise... and I am thankful for that.

we do have a few leads
A white van was seen thursday going very slow passed our house we live an a 55 MPH road.
They believe they knowus well and will be back the state trooper gurunteed. my mom interupted the when she came home but she only pulled in the end of the drive way nd then left to get to the post office to get some boxes. I thank god for that. the officer said that now they know what is in here (they left ALOT) that they wil be back.
they also got 2 guns. We now have more guns in the house. And we will now START using our security system 24 hours. It is our own fault. Doors open alarm not set. Thats how we have always been able to live. We live out in the country and its quite. We thought. Its just scary knowing that they will be back.
Everyone-Thank you for your replies and sympothy it will be an unsettling next few months

Sorry to hear that Dkay, The main thing is that no one in your family got hurt. I really hope that is the end of it and the crooks get caught and put away.
Dave
Man...too bad. I hope they don't come back.
I have 2 things to prevent this from happening here: 1-German Shepherd?Rott mix and 1-Bull dog. Might want to consider a little full-time live in security sys like that!

Sorry about the theft Dkay, if the troopers reckon they will come back why noy try getting a pair of Rotties or pitbulls and don't feed them to well, so they are hungry when you are out. If they get chewed up it's there fault for trying to come back.

Sorry to hear about your losses. It's a real pity that people do things like that. I figure if you steal from someone, you're taking part of their life, because they had to work for what they had. Had to spend time working to get the money to buy their "stuff."
Well, I'm sure you're depressed enough, so I'll stop.
Once again, I am sorry, and I feel for you. Hope you get the b*st*rds!

Dkay, I'm sorry to hear about that. Hope they get caught before they can bother you again!
Don't know what you can do about your personal safety, but did you buy any of your stuff with credit cards? You might be able to get some of your money back that way.
Besides getting better locks, etc., and possibly homeowner's insurance, which all cost money, maybe you should also take pictures of everything, take down serial numbers, and mark whatever you can with your name so that if your things turn up later at local fences you'll be able to get them back.
Some people I know found their stolen furniture all over the place in local antique stores... even some fancy, reputable stores!
Good luck!

Sorry to hear about that, Dkay. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
I know what it feels like as it happened to me. Had the police take prints, but they didn't find any that could be of use.
In my case, it was a return of some kids that had previously been to my house and they must have cased it while they were at one of my son's parties (when I was out of town). No concrete proof, so there could be no charges made.
My two dogs were of no help at all and hung out with them while they drank all the liquor .
Prevention is the key.
i feel for you man, best of luck catching them.

Hey, it's sad to hear that your house got robbed.
But at least you've got your health and that's the most important thing of all!
Physical things can be replaced, but lives cannot!
Hope those A******S get caught!

Thank goodness no one got hurt. I hope they catch the jerks and put and them away.
I second the suggestion about getting a dog. I had a German Shepherd for twelve and a half years. After he died, the first time someone knocked on my door I just about jumped out of my skin. It was the first time in about eleven years that someone even got near the house without my knowing it ahead of time.

Sorry to hear, I got broken into Jan 97, the insurance refused to pay anything I didn't have the receipt or owners manuals of items supposedly missing(State Farm). I got ZERO cause by the time the deductible was met and including things I could prove, it was pitiful what I could claim.. my fault for not keeping better records, my condolences, ps this happened on night shift, which is what I'm working now,,, uck DrVette

Sorry to hear it man. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
We had our microwave, VCR, and two bikes nicked once.
Get some dogs. (may I suggest 20?)
We do have a german shepard. This dog will not let you out of the car. It barks and growls horribly. Let me put it this way. The stste tropper did not get out of the car until we came outside. I am sorry to say that they beat the dog until it was so scared it ran away. She is not the same since but will be better I hope. Even injured she keep the cop in the car.
We are ordering a video survalence system for our house and surrounding building.
Thanks agian everyone.
I hope they do come back becaue we are ready now. I want to catch these 2 bastards

My sympathies to you. As you have heard from plenty of people by now, the secret is to make your house harder to break into than anybody else's in the neighborhood. Bad guys are lazy (if they weren't they'd be out working for a living like the rest of us) and will hit the target of least resistance. Lock your doors. Install an alarm system - then consider response time - if you're out in the boondocks with no close neighbors and it takes 20 minutes for the sheriff to get there the alarm is pretty much a waste of time. Harden your house. You should have deadbolt locks with the striker plates fastened securely to the studs with 3" screws. You can buy high security door hinges that have the hinge pins locked in.
I've seen cases where the bad guys have tied a chain to the front or back door and literally ripped the door from the house. If you're living in an area where such an activity will go unnoticed, you might want to think about moving. Let's face it, if the bad guys want to get in, they will as long as they've got enough time and there's nobody around to stop them.
Out here in the west most burglars will not hit an occupied residence. 12 gauge buckshot is a pretty good deterrent and tends to save the county the cost of a trial. Try to make your house look like somebody's home. I know people who leave a car parked in the driveway even when everybody's gone, play the radio or TV in an empty house, and even have a trustworthy neighbor move the car or change the position of the blinds when they're gone on vacation.
Another point - I used to work for a heat and air contractor and I used to see people leave house keys in the exterior disconnect box quite often. I'm sorry but I have absolutely no sympathy for people who are stupid enough to forget their house keys. If you leave your keys where a bad guy can get to them (and I know that they look in the same places that I did) you weren't robbed - you gave your stuff away!
Good luck and if you do pop a bad guy list it under "civic betterment".

Sorry to hear of your troubles, Dkay. For me, the worst part of being robbed was the feelings of violation, and the feelings of not being safe in my own home. While I missed the things that they took, that was only minor...things can always be replaced. After the initial shock, anger and fear wore off, I decided to change my perspective. I started feeling sorry for the person who ripped me off, knowing that they obviously thought so lowly of themselves, that they would resort to stealing. I then wished that whoever wound up with my stuff enjoyed it as much as I did. Believe it or not, I felt pretty empowered by that, knowing that I was in a much better place then the person who broke in. I'm also am a strong believer in KARMA...what comes around goes around. Good luck in catching them the second time around. But please use some restaint when you do, KARMA works both ways! Also, thank goodness that no one was hurt...and that your dog will be okay. Give her a hug for me!
Thankyou everyone.
I appreciate it
