I have an intel 10/100 NIC which is causing some problems. Just before the BIOS checks for hardware changes the intel NIC posts a message about being present then system locks up. I have tried everything including removing some things before it boots like the TV card. It boots fine when no mouse is present but some reason will not boot past the NIC when the mouse is attached. I have tried with different mice but same problem.

Any ideas?

Spec:
PIII 800 133FSB
128MB 133 SDRAM
ATI Rage 128 Pro
ATI TV Wonder
Intel Pro 10/100 NIC
MR2800 modem
Logitek Mouse

May not make a difference, but can you try the NIC in a different slot?

Is it a serial mouse or PS/2?

Sounds like a fight for IRQ12. There may be an option in your BIOS that states your using a ps2 mouse. Or you could just reserve IRQ12 as legacy to force the NIC to use another IRQ and allow the Mouse to use it.

I agree with CadetStimpy. If it's an older NIC, then you'll have to get to the setup disk and actuall tell the NIC what irq to resolve to.
