having trouble running d3d games. they keep crashing to desktop(max payne,ms fs2000,colin mcrae rally2)after a couple of minutes.i have an abit vt6x4 mobo with p3 1ghz 256mb ram. i have been through just about every bios setting and flashed the bios, i have tried numerous detonator drivers and the via 4in1 drivers and just about everything i can find on geforcefaq.com i know of other people with gf2 ultras and via chipsets who are having problems. anyone else? anyone got any ideas? there is no support from via or nvidia for this problem and i feel the only option is to launch this ******* and get a new mobo without a via chipset. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you think it could be a heat problem? Sounds like something is getting a little hot. Also, what drivers are you using for the GF2? There have been several posts about Max Payne crashing after several minutes using certain drivers, mostly the 12.90's. Try the 12.41's. If your using the other's. See if that makes a difference. Also, make sure nothing is getting HOT.

I switched back to the D3 6.50 drivers after I noticed my benchmarks were lower with the 12.41 drivers. Also 12.41 was giving me poor quality graphics (objects showed through other objects, etc.)

There is probably a newer driver that is better, but I have 6.50 in an archive and it was handy. I hope Detonator 4 doesn't have the same problem!

i'm using the 12.41s from nvidia with dx8. i can run some d3d games ok, so what u are saying about heat could be right as it only seems to be games that really push the card. i have tried lowering the res and textures to see if this helped but it didn't so i'm not sure. it is a chaintech card with a heatsink and fan and heatsinks on the memory.

Well if you touch the card and it burns your fingers it's hot. Only being warm is a good thing. What type of case cooling do you have?

no sides on the case. case fan front and rear and an exhaust port card.
