Okay;

So here is the prob.. I recently bought a p3 750 socket 370. I also purchased an Abit Slotket ( my mobo is a slot1 ). Since I have upgraded, my system freezes up every first time I turn it on.... After that, I have no probs. Sometimes when it freezes, I hit the reset and the startup will only get to recognizing the chipset and go no farther !! I never had this problem with my old cely 400.. Can anyone help ???

Here are my sys. specs:

Abit BH-6 slot 1-mobo (latest bios revision )
Intel P3 - 750
160 MB Ram ( one 32 and one 128 )
Creative Annihilator 2 GTS video card
15 gig maxtor harddrive
cheap sound card ( have no idea maker )

I thought it might be the slotket, so I bought the Asus one, nut it didn't work either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you upgrade your ram also. The old celery was a 66 mgz front side bus cpu if I remember right. That P3-750 is probably a 133 mgz front side bus. The 66 mgz memory can't stand the strain.
So tell us if the ram is old or new. It would be the first place I would head to.

Check if the slotket has voltage adjustment jumpers and they set with correct settings, had exactly the same problem once with Asus slotket.

Best Regards ...

My ram is pc100, so I don't think that is the problem. However, I have the voltage set at default on the slotket. Does it make any difference if I manually set it ???

Thnx for reply

You have PC100 memory. Now is the P3-750 a 100fsb or 133fsb. It was made in both types for the socket 370. P3-750E=100fsb
P3-750EB=133fsb. Which processor have you installed.
I also found this on the on the Abit site

The second question it answers is. Will a coppermine work in a BH6. Read close on this question and look at your board revision. The newest bious for this board only shows Celery's with 66mhz settings.
It says nothing about supporting P3's It does show up to P3-700 on the info page for the BH6. But the way the one question was asked. It depends on your board rev number looks like.

I have Rev. 1.2 - The site says that it will go up to a p3-850 with coppermine core. My main chip is a 750e ( 100 mhz).
