That sure doesn't look like a Windows file to me..are you sure you got rid of the virus?

To answer you're question....
Winzip can open & extract cab files from the Win95/98/98SE CD-Rom. In Win98/98SE, 1 right click on the cab file you want to look at, then "View" 1 click left button. From there, just copy the file you need to the location of your choice. Also SFC can extract one file for you.

I would do a little reading on the virus you had, and make sure it is eradicated..what was it by the way?

Actually, I'm not sure that I don't still have it. I've run my virus software, and it didn't find anything...

Any suggestions?

I agree with smokin1...doesnt sound like a WIN File.

What virus was it and what Anti Virus program are you using and when was the last time you updated it???

Well, this "virus" doesn't allow me to open any program other than explorer, so I couldn't use my regular anti-virus software. I used one on the web, at pcpitstop.com. It was updated 8/17, I believe.

Try going into safe mode and do a complete system scan.Make sure that you set it to scan all files. You also want to make sure that you have the latest and greatest virus definition file.

Ditto, anything you could add to help identify the virus by name will increase your chances of getting help.

I rebooted into Safe Mode, but still couldn't run scandisk. I then booted into DOS, and ran scandisk from there. It didn't find anything.

Even from safe mode I still couldn't start my antivirus software...

I also keep getting this message:

Cannot find the file '[3' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and the filename are correct and that all required libraries are available.

Any suggestions?

Okay, I found a work around, and was able to run InoculateIT PE. It has detected the subseven virus.214 trojan.

Well, it detected and "deleted" the Sub7 virus, but my computer is still screwed up. Also, I've tried to run regedit, and that won't load either... What should I do?

Put a copy of your windows disk on your hard drive in a file of your choise. Then run system file checker from safe mode. To get to system file checker go. Start/programs/Accesories/System tools/System Information/Tools(TAB)/System File checker. Replace all files it shows as bad or corrupted. you won't have a cd-rom in safe mode that is why you need to put a copy of your windows cd on the hard drive.

How do I extract cab files, or search cab files?

I've recently gotten a virus, and it deleted a file called "qbhhfhsxvqdx.exe" which I guess is needed to open almost any application. I can't find this file on my system, and I'm assuming it's in one of the cab files... At least I hope it is. Any suggestions?
