Anyone have any ideas why the color might be affected by a magenta hue. Problem cropped up after the new year.

Hi,
I'm sure you probably tried a degause if your monitor has one, but have you turned your system off and physically unplugged then replugged in your monitor cable, making sure that the thumb screws are tightened.
I've had a similar problem before that was due to a weak connection.
Best of luck,

Next, check your color settings, too much magenta could be caused by not enough cyan (blue). If you need to start moving the color settings more and more, you could be in for monitor problems. Hope thats not the case for you, but I had my share last year.

BTW, I will always remember now the keys to push when a monitor is gone. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

We recently replaced a video card due to problems like this. Afterward, I checked the card over and found the screw fasteners on the monitor connection end to be very loose. Not the cable itself, the screws that hold the back plate to the board. Haven't tried it again since, but I think that was part of the problem. Perhaps a poor ground?
