Appreciate some assistance.

In the past few days the PC keeps showing all these prompts for either Rnaapp, Msmsgs or Explorer, and the famous "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down."

Have not installed or uninstalled anything lately. Can't seem to figure this out.

Are Rnaapp, Msmsgs and Explorer items from one particular application?

Any ideas of what the problem might be?

Best of all, any suggestions to get rid of these prompts that keep showing up?

If you're using Win98 you can try running System File Checker - Start/Run sfc ENTER - and replace any corrupted or missing files. Another check I'd make (first actually) would be to open up the box and make sure the CPU fan is working while the computer is on. An overheated CPU causes all sorts of problems - invalid page faults and illegal operations for Explorer.exe are very common if this is the case.

DaHazeMan,

Thank you for your reply.

CPU fan IS working. Uhhh! Checked that one first, for sure.

Will try out SFC. Have never done that before. Maybe it will identify the problem.

Try SFC in safe mode also. I have a had a few times that SFC only showed a file or two bad in windows. Put it into safe mode and find a bunch more. There are a lot less programs and items that load in safe mode.
Also could be a stick of ram starting to go also.
