Check this out: FREE DSL!!!! To other online services, watch out! For me, i'm shooting for the free modem if i can get 10 referrals http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
*****************************************
Check out this FREE new service from Broadband Digital Group (BDG). Click on the link below and register now to get “FREE” unlimited high-speed (DSL) Internet access over your everyday phone line - which lets you talk and surf the net at the same time. The service is always on, which that means to you, no more waiting on busy signals and no more dropped connections. Surf the Internet at speeds over 50 times faster than conventional dial-up. All you have to do is download a new Internet Software Application called the FreeDSL Browser Assistant from Winfire. It works with your web browser to provide instant access to useful web sites and services directly from your desktop (it’s small enough to fit in your windows start bar). Just click on the attached link to quickly download the program for free. Let me know what you think.
Also, once you download and install the software, if you refer the BDG FreeDSL service to 10 other people, you will receive a “FREE” high-speed DSL modem.

From http://www.freedsl.com/rules_modem.asp 7.0 Anti-Spamming
BDG users may not use spam to obtain Referrals. You may not use unsolicited e-mail, usenet, message board postings, or similar correspondence (spam) to gather referrals. . (Usenet and message board spam are messages sent or posted which are unrelated to the topic of discussion of the particular news group or message board.) The use of spam to promote the BDG Services has strict negative consequences. Not only may BDG terminate You from receiving Internet Services in BDG's sole and absolute discretion for using unsolicited e-mail to gain referrals (a "spammer"), BDG will also sever the branch of the "referral tree" made up of direct and extended referrals obtained by the spammer and may terminate the license to use the Winfire Browser Assistant.
Any BDG end user or sponsor who engages in spamming is in violation of this BDG policy and may cause BDG financial harm or damage its goodwill and business reputation. BDG reserves the right to recover from such violating sponsor or end user the losses resulting from violation of this agreement. By having the Winfire Browser Assistant, each end user or Partner agrees to indemnify and hold BDG harmless against all claims, damages and brutalities resulting from such violation of this policy. Additionally, BDG reserves the right to report any instances of spamming to appropriate authorities and/or third party Web sites that take and publish information regarding spamming.
and... 14.0 Equitable Remedies
You hereby agree that if the terms of this Rules Agreement are not specifically enforced, Winfire will be irreparably damaged, and therefore You agree that Winfire shall be entitled, without bond or other security in excess of $1,000, or without proof of damages, to temporary and/or permanent injunctions and/or restraining orders with respect any breach(es) of this Rules Agreement, in addition to any other available remedies available to Winfire at law or in equity.
I hope this doesn't qualify.

I dont think that hhieu has violated the rules at all... he hasn't asked us to be referals for him...
hhieu may have gotten close to the line but I do not feel he crossed it. He did say up front what he was hoping to do.

Good. I was thinking the fact that this a General Discussion computer forum would be enough of a loophole for this to be OK, I just wouldn't want hhieu to lose all the referrals he gets from here or get any trouble from this company.
Apostle 83, if you download from the link that hhieu provided, and then sign up, you are a referral for him, so that's like him asking. (I don't have any problem with that - if I were going to try the service, I may as well be somebody's referral, right?)
AQR8, I agree with you regarding hhieu not crossing the line - he was informing us of a new service and asking for our support (this is a support site, after all) and our being referrals for him wouldn't hurt us a bit.
hhieu, am I understanding this part correctly as meaning you won't actually own the modem they give you? 6.0 Return of Modem
You agree that in the event that either You (i) unilaterally elect to cancel or no longer use for a period of 60 continuous calendar days the Services that You will immediately return the modem within 10 calendar days.
I am sure that this 5.0 - THIRD PARTY FEES AND CHARGES
Using your account may enable You to purchase goods or incur other charges to third parties. You are responsible for all activities and charges resulting from use of your account. You are also solely responsible for all charges (associated with connecting to the Service through an available access number for example, telephone or xDSL* charges). You are further responsible for obtaining or providing all telephone, computer (including modem), or other equipment necessary to access the Service. You are responsible for determining whether the access number You use to connect to the Service will obligate You to pay telephone use charges to your telephone company(from http://www.freedsl.com/termsofservice.asp ) means you will still have to pay your local phone company all the fees they ususally charge for providing you with the Digital Subscriber Line itself, so it won't be completely free to you.

thanks everyone! i don't think i've violated it though...'cause "message board spam are messages sent or posted which are unrelated to the topic of discussion of the particular news group or message board", so it's not unsolicited.
anyway, i'm thinking getting the Bellsouth RoadRunner soon 'cause i'm feeling the need for speed badly...still hoping for that free DSL... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
