Well it was working, then one day it suddenly stopped. We opened up the case and the damned heatsink/fan had fallen off the processor. Anyway the screen is COMPLETELY blank, nothing, nada, nilch, and there's no HD activity, no beep, nuttin.
This a fried CPU or could it be something else?

This happened to me one time, it may very well be your power supply is bad, try getting a power supply off another pc hook it up and see if that fixes your problem.

It may be the cpu. I can only suggest that you put another one in and see if it will do anything.

What CPU is it? If it's a newer one (Athlon, Duron, PIII), it's probably toast. Even a few minutes without a heat sink/fan will fry the chip. Original Pentiums, K5s, etc. can survive much better
Mazurka and GrimBo both have good points. Is the power supply fan spinning? If so, it's most likely the CPU.
