I don't know what happened. But if you read my last post, I had to reboot my system while downloading a bunch of stuff cause of a lock up from low system resources. Now when I open my computer, the C drive does not have that little hardware icon, it looks like a piece of paper with the letter A in the lower right hand corner. I have a second and third hard drive. They appear normal. What could have happened? Everything is working, but I'm afraid I may be in for trouble. Frank

Can you still access the drive and have you rebooted since? You also might want to hit F5 a couple of time while you have My Computer open.

Right click on the drive and select properties. The bottom button is Change Icon.

I'd say F5 (refresh), but if the two previous answers don't work, look here;

Sterling_Aug what OS are you running that will allow you to change the icon of a drive your way?

Another idea is to install Tweakui. There is an option in there to repair icons.

I ran tweakui and that seemed to do it. By the way there is no change icon button on my ver of win98se. Frank

Great stuff, I am also running windows 98se.
I just installed this os onto a new p4, and the problem was there on first boot.
I will try editing the registry first, then the application suggested.
Thanks guys for all the advice, I did a search and came straight here for what I needed.
I will let you know how I go:)
