I use WinRar and it is faster and better than winzip. At least I think so. What are you useing to uncompress it? How big is it? I have never used it for a Cd image though. I have unrared files up to 130meg and it not take but 2 or 3 minutes with WinRar. [This message has been edited by jad1097 (edited 01-06-2000).] bdog 01-06-2000, 03:01 AM The total uncompressed size was around 250 mb with over two thousand files. I was using Arjfolder to uncompress the rar file. It was the only thing I could find at tucows that would do it. It finally finished uncompressing in about 35 hours. Whew! Now I can get back to crackining rc5. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Dominus 01-06-2000, 03:33 AM Use WinRAR 2.5 f rom www.rarsoft.com (http://www.rarsoft.com) bdog 01-06-2000, 08:51 AM Thanks for the info. I will DL it and check it out. Shane Reese 01-06-2000, 01:28 PM I agree with jad1097!!! That is not normal!! I am using WinRAR 2.6 and I unzipped a 500Mb file in about 7 min on a P-III 500 So something for you is a miss??? Good luck to you!! Dominus 01-06-2000, 04:19 PM I could see it taking up to 30-45 minutes to compress a CD image, but not to decompress. Tried doing it un-overclocked? bdog 01-06-2000, 05:45 PM I downloaded winrar and uncompressed the same file in about one and a half minutes. I guess Arjfolder is just no good for rara files. Thanks again for pointing me to the right program. I won't waste that much time again. SysOpt.com
